Spielberg Confirms Peter Jackson Will Direct The Tin Tin Sequel
After collaborating successfully with the animated adventure The Adventures of Tin Tin: The Secret of the Unicorn, it looks as though Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson will swap shifts when the second film is made.
Spielberg confirmed in an interview with Total Film that after directing the first film, he will step back into the producers role and give Lord of the Rings director Jackson the chance to helm the sequel as part of their planned trilogy. The sequel
won’t be made though until Jackson finishes work on his Hobbit prequels due out later this year and next year.
“Peter’s doing it. I wanted to do it, but Peter has to because we made a deal. Isaid, ‘I’ll direct the first one, you direct the second one.’ And Peter, of course, is going to do it right after he finishes photography on The Hobbit. He’ll go right into the 31, 21 days of performance capture. We’re not telling the world what bookswe’re basing the second movie on yet. We have completed a story outline now. We have a writer on it. I’m just not declaring what it is. It will be more than one book,
but no more than two.”
Spielberg himself is busy too with his current filming of the historical biopic Lincoln so both men are occupied in the meantime. But it is definitely welcoming news to hear about Tin Tin getting a sequel given the fun and enjoyment of the original.

Hmmm… I do think having a new director will bring about fresh eyes to the whole deal and it might be a good idea. Although I enjoyed Tintin but overall I was generlly dissapointed by the fact that it is not live action but motion capture. That thing is still not going to change, but maybe, just maybe in a new light it will be more appealing.
